hello! i loved kang doo and how grumpy he was while desperately needing affection. i really liked how the show let the characters grow and explore their own memories and trauma over what happened years ago (and the performances from the child actors were so good too) and how the main characters took care of each other and of their community. also i like how real the show looked if that makes sense? the places they live, where they work, the way they talk and dress etc it doesn't feel too glossy like it does sometimes in dramas
and probably my last questions for you are (we're almost on the 14th so i don't know if i'll have time to come back before i post what i've done for you, it's gone so fast!) : is there any kdrama you're looking forward to this year? and i see on your blog you draw a lot, is it something you do as a hobby or do you study/work in art?

I love drawing! It’s something I do for relaxing but it’s also my side hustle, lol. I work in the art field (interior design) but do illustration commissions on the side. One of my goals is to do an illustration for a book/magazine cover combing my love of reading and art.
hello 💜 no worries for the late answer! these are great types of characters, I always find it so touching and inspiring to see characters who choose to do good despite not treating them as such and I'm so glad you mentioned Father is strange because I loved that show and lee yoo ri's character really stole my heart in this, she was so cool and I loved how passionate and protective she was about her family while remaining very independent! she kind of stole the show for me
to talk about another type of fave: I saw you mentioned Just Between Lovers in your list of fave dramas and it's one of my favourite drama as well! based on your previous answers I can see that it fits well with what you like in dramas in terms of stories and characters but I wonder what your fave elements are of it?

As for Just Between Lovers, I really loved the story and the characters! But particularly Kang Doo who’s all like “I don’t care about other people” while aggressively caring about other people. What did you love about it?

Hi! Sorry for the late response but my mind went totally blank and I still don’t have an answer for you.
I could tell you the type? I like characters who are kind despite the world not being kind to them in return. Like Kim Min Jae’s character in Dali and the Cocky Prince. Or Gong Hyo-Jin’s character in Master’s Sun. Or since we both watched Happiness, the main couple who tried so hard to protect the people in their building despite only like 3 of them deserving it, lol.
I also really like characters who are ride or die for their friends, family, or significant other! Like the for example the family in Father is Strange, Lee Yoo-Ri’s character will totally beat up her siblings but will also destroy you if you look at them funny.

oh I loved happiness for that reason as well!! it's what made me watch it when I saw people talking about it and the emphasis on the relationship between the characters. I think it helped that there weren't that many characters - as opposed to dramas where people aren't quarantined lol - so that the relationship between the leads really got to shine and grow, I loved the show but I wasnt going to watch it based on the synopsis alone at first
and so like you I don't really care much for genre, and I like when there's a bit of everything but i need meaningful relationships (which is why I like romance a lot since you know there's always at least one relationship that's going to be explored and touching but I'm ok with no romance as well ) but I don't really watch crime/horror dramas because I'm rarely in the mood for something grim or too dark tbh
my question today is : have there been performances from actors and actresses that have really touched you? wether they were the leads or not, in one of your fave kdramas or another

Wow, you hit a tough one! The moment I started thinking my mind did the “Record Scratch Freeze Frame” moment!!
The first that popped into my head was Park Bo-Gum’s character from Hello Monster. I felt that he really pulled off the creepy psychopath and yet lost boy really well. Another I thought of was Do Kyung Soo’s in It’s Okay, That’s Love. Maybe I just really related to that character but I loved the acting there.
I also adored Jun Ji-Hyun in My Love From Another Star. Her character Cheon Seon-Yi is actually a favorite of mine as well so!!
This isn’t a specific performance per se but I really like when Shin Sung Rok plays evil masterminds? He just really pulls it off well, lol.

That’s a good question! I guess I just really like the dynamic they have between characters, not just the main leads but with other characters as well. Such as in Master’s Sun with the two main females (I may be biased as I love Gong Hyo Jin) and in Hwayugi between Lee Seung Gi’s character and Cha Seung Won’s.
This leads to your second question! Yeah, I don’t really judge by genre! I need to have a good plot, good character dynamics, and some romance! I also love the Found Family trope! Take for example Happiness, I dislike Zombies ALOT but something about the appeal of the main characters made me LOVE that drama. Same with Racket Boys, the sports genre isn’t a particular favorite but I loved that one!

We hope this will be a way for you to either get to know more about your secret valentine if you don’t know them already, and help build new friendship in the drama community.
